Agree almost fully with the letter, ‘The Passing of a heartthrob’ by ‘A Robert Redford fan’. Should inform readers that certainly 3 of Redford’s films currently being shown on BBC iPlayer, Catch-up TV (Indecent Proposal, All the Presidents Men, & Butch Cassidy).
A slight difference of opinion; & I speak as a cuckoldress, who’s watched this movie on iPlayer with my cuckold & my lover. A case of when the parties fell IN, & fell OUT of love with one another.
Demi, we reckon fell in love with Redford at his house, when he narrated the story of how he missed out on ‘the girl of his dreams on the subway’—-they subsequently had a very close dance, where really they should have French kissed.
We suspect they made love after that dance; ‘made love, that is, after the $1million lovemaking. Redford fell in love with Demi the minute he saw her in the shop, trying on that dress, & ‘pocketing’ the chocolates; a case of ‘love at first sight’.
Demi fell OUT of love with her husband when he fairly HURLED the wine bottle at the wall. But most toxic of all was when the husband fell OUT of love with Demi—-possibly the most toxic part of the entire film—-when she admitted to her husband, with him ranting jealously at her, that sex with Redford was good (an understatement?).
Incidentally, at that part of watching the film, my lover gave my husband ‘the stare’—-a look of infinite superiority, reminding hubby that he was a far better lover than my hubby was!
I agree that there should have been more love scenes between Demi Moore & Redford. That brief kiss was not enough.
Mention was made of the book on which the film was based. Read a review, & apparantly, in the book, the ‘Redford in the book’ had a camera fitted up, filming their ‘$1 million fucking’. And this film he showed to the cuckold husband—-& in which the stud was IMMEASURABLY better than the husband. Red rag to a bull, the husband watching his wife having amazing orgasms on her lovers cock. Apparantly the 2, husband & lover came to blows; in the book that is!
There was one legal point overlooked—-when the lawyer was going through the legal aspects for Redford to agree & sign (impotency, death etc ‘on the job’), no mention was made of pregnancy.
I mean what if Demi had been impregnated by Redford during this $1 million romp? I suspect a lot was left to the imagination of the viewer, & in this case, it could be assumed that Redford probably kept coming in Demi’s mouth in order to avoid pregnancy. But who knows for sure. But this was certainly an oversight.
And finally, there was talk of a sequel being made, ‘Indecent Proposal 2’. A plot that was suggested was that following the divorce, Demi & Redford get together formally, the ex, now fairly wealthy in his own right ($1million in the bank), gets himself a girl, kinda a gold digger, thinking he’s rich, get wed.
But hey, their paths cross. Can love between Demi & her ex be rekindled? Redford, like before, is attracted to the new wife of his former rival, & she (this new wife, who could be a gold digger), soon realises what REAL wealth is like ie she is attracted to Redford! I suspect such a plot could have made for a great sequel!
Any other views folks? Bit I DO suggest U.K. viewers tune in to BBC iPlayer to watch at least the 3 Redford films mentioned above.
Robert Redford RIP!
